IRIDIUM 140 (also known as Iridium Next SV140) is a communication and traffic monitoring satellite operated by IRIDS. It was launched on March 30, 2018, from the AFWTR launch site using a Falcon 9 launch vehicle. The spacecraft has dimensions of 3.1 meters in length, 1.5 meters in diameter, and spans 9.4 meters with its solar arrays deployed. With a dry mass of 700 kg and a launch mass of 860 kg, the satellite is equipped with an L-band payload, Ka-band cross-links, downlinks, ADS-B payload, and AIS-receiver technology (part of a set on 58 satellites). It features two deployable solar arrays for power generation alongside batteries. The design lifetime is planned to be up to 15 years from its initial 10-year lifespan design. The satellites shape is described as Half Hex Prism+2 pan, and it was manufactured by OATKGA for communication purposes and traffic monitoring in low Earth orbit.
