The COSMOS 2478 [GLONASS-M], also known as Kosmos-2478, is a navigation satellite launched on November 28, 2011, from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome (LC43/4) using a Soyuz-2-1B launch vehicle. It operates under the ownership of KVR/IACG and was manufactured by RESH using the Uragan-M bus configuration. The satellite has dimensions of 4 meters in length with a diameter of 1.5 meters, spans 7.8 meters when its solar arrays are deployed, and weighs 1200 kg dry and 1450 kg at launch. Its mission is to provide navigation services as part of the GLONASS system, equipped with two deployable solar arrays and batteries for power supply. The satellite has a design life of seven years.
