NSS-12 (also known as NSS 12) is a communication satellite operated by SES (SESSL). Launched on October 29, 2009, from the Guiana Space Center using an Ariane 5ECA launch vehicle, it was manufactured by LOR and has a configuration of SSL-1300. The satellite measures 7.6 meters in length, with a diameter of 2.9 meters, and spans 32.5 meters when its solar arrays are deployed. It had a launch mass of 5,622 kilograms and a dry mass of 2,500 kilograms. NSS-12 is equipped with 40 C-band and 48 Ku-band active high-power transponders for communication purposes, powered by two deployable solar arrays and batteries. The satellite has an expected operational lifetime of 15 years and was designed to provide stable communications services from its position in geostationary orbit.
