INTELSAT 25 (IS-25), also known as Protostar 1, is a communication satellite owned by PROTO and operated for communication purposes. It was launched on July 7, 2008, from ELA3 launch pad at the Guiana Space Centre using an Ariane 5ECA launch vehicle. The spacecraft measures 6.2 meters in length, 2.4 meters in diameter, and has a span of 31.1 meters. It has a dry mass of 1774 kilograms and a launch mass of 4194 kilograms. Equipped with the FS-1300 bus configuration and SSL-1300 design, IS-25 features 16 (+6) Ku-band transponders and 36 (+2) C-band transponders for communication services. It is powered by two deployable solar arrays and batteries, manufactured by LOR, with a designed lifetime of 17 years. The satellite has a shape described as Box + 2 Pan + Dish and an RCS (Reflective Coefficient Surface) value of 12.685.
