ORBCOMM FM29, also known as Orbcomm J1, is an experimental communication satellite designed for Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) applications along with traffic monitoring. Launched on June 19, 2008, from the Kodiak Launch Complex (KYMSC), LC107 using a Kosmos 11K65M launch vehicle, this satellite is owned by ORBC and manufactured by OHB/POLK. The Sterkh Bus-based satellite measures 1.3 meters in length with a diameter of 0.6 meters and a span of 1.5 meters. It has a dry mass of 91 kilograms and the same launch mass, indicating it carries no additional fuel or payload beyond its operational equipment. Equipped with an Orbcomm payload and AIS-receiver for communication purposes, ORBCOMM FM29 uses two deployable solar arrays and batteries for power generation. Its shape is described as a box with an antenna (Box + Ant), and it has a radar cross-section of 0.7302 square meters.
