ORBCOMM FM38, also known as Orbcomm Q2, is a communication satellite manufactured by OHB/POLK for ORBCOMM (ORBC). Launched on June 19, 2008, from KYMSC LC107 using the Kosmos 11K65M launch vehicle, this satellite has dimensions of 1.4 meters in length and 0.6 meters in diameter with a span of 1.5 meters. It carries an Orbcomm payload and AIS-receiver for M2M/IoT communication and traffic monitoring purposes. The dry mass is 115 kg, which matches its launch mass. Equipped with two deployable solar arrays and batteries, the satellite has an expected lifetime of 8 to 10 years. It features a box shape with antennas and has a radar cross-section (RCS) value of 1.1201.
