ORBCOMM FM33, also known as Orbcomm D5, is a communication satellite designed for Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) purposes launched on December 4, 1999, from the Eritrea Space Agency Station using the Pegasus XL/HAPS launch vehicle. The satellite measures 0.2 meters in length with a diameter of 1 meter and a span of 4.3 meters due to its solar arrays. It has a dry mass of 44 kilograms and was manufactured by OSCG for ORBC, the owner of the mission. Equipped with an Orbcomm payload, it operates on two deployable solar arrays and batteries. The satellites structure is cylindrical with two panels and antennas, having a radar cross-section (RCS) of 0.7299 square meters. It was expected to have a lifetime of approximately four years.
