ORBCOMM FM01, also known as Orbcomm F1, is a communication satellite launched on April 3, 1995, from the NASA Wallops Flight Facility using a Pegasus H launch vehicle from Launch Pad RW30/12. With dimensions of 0.2 meters in length and a diameter of 1 meter, it has a span of 4.3 meters, indicating extended solar panels or antennas. The satellite weighs 42 kilograms both at launch and dry mass. It was manufactured by OSCG for ORBCOMM (ORBC), with the primary mission to provide communication services for Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT). Its power system consists of two deployable solar arrays along with batteries. The satellites expected lifetime is 4 years, and it features a configuration combining cylindrical shape with panels and antennas, as indicated by its RCS value of 0.8042.
