COSMOS 2309 [GLONASS], also known as Kosmos-2309, is a Russian navigation satellite launched on March 7, 1995, from the TYMSC launch site using LC200/39 pad and Proton-K/DM-2 launch vehicle. It measures 4 meters in length with a diameter of 1.5 meters and a span of 7.8 meters. The satellite has a dry mass of 1200 kg and was launched at a mass of 1300 kg. Equipped with deployable solar arrays and batteries, COSMOS 2309 [GLONASS] uses a 3-Axis stabilization system for navigation purposes as part of the GLONASS constellation. It is owned by VKS and manufactured by POL. The satellites mission was intended to last for three years.
