The COSMOS 2296 [GLONASS] satellite, also known as Kosmos-2295, is a navigation satellite belonging to the Russian military (VKS). Launched on November 20, 1994, from the TYMSC launch site using the Proton-K/DM-2 vehicle, it was manufactured by POL and has a configuration of 3-axis stabilization. The satellite carries the Uragan No. 63L payload for navigation purposes. It measures 4 meters in length with a diameter of 1.5 meters and a span of 7.8 meters when its solar arrays are deployed. At launch, it had a mass of 1300 kg and a dry mass of 1200 kg. The power system consists of two deployable solar arrays and batteries. Its shape is described as cylindrical with antennas and panels. The satellites design lifetime was estimated to be three years.
