The COSMOS 2289 [GLONASS] satellite, also known as Kosmos-2288, is a Russian navigation satellite manufactured by POL and launched on August 11, 1994, from the Tyuratam Space Center (TYMSC) using a Proton-K/DM-2 launch vehicle. It has a length of 4 meters, diameter of 1.5 meters, and span of 7.8 meters. The satellites dry mass is 1200 kg with a launch mass of 1300 kg. Equipped with two deployable solar arrays and batteries for power supply, it features a 3-Axis stabilized configuration. Its mission was navigation as part of the Uragan system, specifically serving as the Uragan No. 70L payload. The satellite operated for approximately three years after its launch.
