COSMOS 1987 [GLONASS], also known as Kosmos-1987, is a Uragan satellite launched on January 10, 1989, from the TYMSC launch site using a Proton-K/DM-2 vehicle. It was configured with a 3-axis stabilized system and designed for navigation purposes. The satellite measures 4 meters in length, has a diameter of 1.5 meters, and spans 7.8 meters. Its dry mass is 1200 kg, and it had a launch mass of 1300 kg. Equipped with two deployable solar arrays and batteries for power, the satellites shape consists of a cylinder with antennas and two panels. The manufacturer was OAZ, and its operational lifetime was expected to be about three years.
