COSMOS 1971 [GLONASS], also known as Kosmos-1971, is a Uragan model satellite launched on September 16, 1988, from the TYMSC launch site using the Proton-K/DM-2 launch vehicle. It has a configuration of 3-Axis stabilized and serves for navigation purposes. The spacecraft measures approximately 4 meters in length with a diameter of 1.5 meters and spans 7.8 meters when its solar arrays are deployed. It has a dry mass of 1,200 kilograms and was launched with a total mass of 1,300 kilograms. Its power system includes two deployable solar arrays and batteries. The satellite is equipped with the Uragan No. 43L payload and has an RCS (Reaction Control System) value of 0.9781. It has been operational for three years in orbit, manufactured by OAZ, with its shape described as a cylinder plus antennas plus two panels.
