COSMOS 1948 [GLONASS], also known as Kosmos-1948, is a navigation satellite launched on May 21, 1988, from the TYMSC launch site using the Proton-K/DM-2 launch vehicle. This Uragan-class satellite measures 4 meters in length with a diameter of 1.5 meters and has a span of 7.8 meters due to its solar arrays. The spacecraft has a dry mass of 1,200 kilograms and was launched with a total mass of 1,300 kilograms. It is equipped with two deployable solar arrays and batteries for power supply. The satellite uses 3-axis stabilization for orientation control and has an RCS (Reaction Control System) area of 1.9728 square meters. Manufactured by OAZ, its primary mission was navigation. It had a planned lifetime of three years and operated under the ownership of UNKS (Unknown).
