COSMOS 1947 [GLONASS], also known as Kosmos-1947, is a navigation satellite launched by SU (USSR) on May 21, 1988, from TYMSC using the Proton-K/DM-2 launch vehicle. The spacecraft measures 4 meters in length with a diameter of 1.5 meters and has a span of 7.8 meters due to its solar arrays. It was configured as 3-Axis stabilized with dry mass at 1200 kg, carrying a payload designated Uragan No. 40L for navigation purposes. The satellite is powered by two deployable solar arrays along with batteries and has a shape described as Cyl + Ant + 2 Pan. Its lifetime was projected to be around 3 years. The satellite was manufactured by OAZ and launched from LC200/39 at TYMSC.
