COSMOS 1839 [GLONASS], also known as Kosmos-1839, is a navigation satellite launched on April 24, 1987, from the TYMSC launch site using the Proton-K/DM-2 vehicle from LC200/40. Manufactured by OAZ, this Uragan series satellite weighs 1300 kg at launch and has a dry mass of 1200 kg. It measures 4 meters in length with a diameter of 1.5 meters and spans 7.8 meters when its solar arrays are deployed. The satellite is equipped with two deployable solar arrays and batteries for power, and it was designed to operate for three years. Its mission purpose was navigation, and it used a 3-axis stabilization system. It belongs to the GLONASS constellation and has an equipment payload of Uragan No. 31L.
