COSMOS 1779 [GLONASS], also known as Kosmos-1779, is a Navigation satellite launched by the Soviet Union on September 16, 1986, from Tyuratam Site (TYMSC) using a Proton-K/DM-2 launch vehicle. The spacecraft measures 4 meters in length with a diameter of 1.5 meters and has a span of 7.8 meters due to its solar arrays. It features a dry mass of 1200 kilograms and had a launch mass of 1300 kilograms. Equipped with two deployable solar arrays and batteries for power, the satellites primary purpose is navigation. Its configuration includes three-axis stabilization and it was manufactured by OAZ (Ozerskaya Avtomaticheskaya Zavod). The satellite has an operational lifetime of approximately 3 years.
