COSMOS 1556 [GLONASS], also known as Kosmos-1556, is a dummy satellite launched on May 19, 1984, from the Tyuratam Space Center (TYMSC) using the Proton-K/DM-2 launch vehicle. The spacecraft, part of the Uragan series and manufactured by OAZ for GUKOS, has dimensions of 4 meters in length, 1.5 meters in diameter, and a span of 7.8 meters. It had a dry mass of 1200 kg and a launch mass of 1300 kg. The satellites shape is described as cylindrical with antennas and two panels, with a radar cross-section (RCS) of 0.4342 square meters. The mission was to deploy the Uragan GVM payload for dummy operations without any onboard power or motor systems.
