The COSMOS 1490 [GLONASS], also known as Kosmos-1490, is a navigation satellite launched on August 10, 1983, from the TYMSC launch site using the Proton-K/DM-2 vehicle. It has dimensions of 4 meters in length and 1.5 meters in diameter with a span of 7.8 meters. The satellite was equipped with Uragan No. 12L payload for navigation purposes and had a dry mass of 1,200 kg and a launch mass of 1,300 kg. It operated for approximately three years and utilized two deployable solar arrays and batteries for power supply. Manufactured by OAZ and owned by GUKOS, the satellite was configured with a 3-axis stabilization system.
